Nehru Rural Development (NRD) Educational Trust was founded by Late Shri S.V.Ramani Iyer in the year 1994, aimed at rendering quality education to rural youth that were already changing the entire country. This aim led the trust to sown a seed for the creation of Bharath Niketan Engineering College (BNEC) and the sequel sister concern Bharath Niketan Polytechnic College (BNPC).

Bharath Niketan Engineering College was established in the year 1998. After the charismatic leadership of a Leading Industrialist, Shri S. Mohan, Managing Chairman, BNEC has taken its form to leave its footprints in the upliftment of rural youth technically and economically. The founder’s dream of building a nonsectarian and affordable educational institution was turned into a reality by the meaningful and innovational direction by the Managing Chairman

BNEC (Approved by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi and Affiliated to Anna University Chennai.) is an ISO 9001; 2015 certified institution and presently offers six undergraduate courses and five post graduate courses.
